While the rest of my G1 prediction bracket is totally shot, I did pick Okada and Moxley as finalists. Feel pretty good about that one. Guys I was 100% wrong about: I thought Takagi, ZSJ, Sanada, and Fale would do way better than they are. The one I was most off was Jay White. I had him getting 10 points. Didn’t realize it was CHAOS revenge-time. Taichi vs White. The immovable slime vs the unstoppable grease. I love bad guy fights.Night 12 might be the GOAT.

I watched Why Does Celeste Feel So Good to Play? | Game Maker’s Toolkit.

Played a round of Ping Pong King.

Hello Darkness My Old Friend https://t.co/h9XFoFdUS8

Trying to get off a subway while nobody moves out of the doorway. It’s like the city collectively forgot the lessons gifted to us by Ludacris.

Played a round of Ping Pong King.

Went on a date.

I went to bed around 10:31 pm.

I recommend you read Amazon Kindle Oasis Review: Now Is the Perfect Time to Buy an E-Reader. I agree with just about everything in this review. 1: You don’t need an expensive Kindle, or even a Kindle. Any recent eink device is great for the purpose of unplugging and reading stuff on the web, but away from eye-straining light.

I woke up around 6:31 am.

YouTube videos where people are like can I go a whole week with this $1000 computer instead of a $2000 computer.” Like, yeah. You can. You can get by on a $2 notebook fellas. Your privilege is super showing. The iPad Challenge” makes me upset.

I went to Therapy.

I took the TTC. Played a round of Ping Pong King.

I recommend Back to Work 436: Better Than a Lipstick. It’s, as they say, one of the good ones. Choice advice: You’re not making errors. You’re adding information.”

I went to bed around 10:28 pm.

I read Dark mode isn’t as good for your eyes as you believe. Read it on my Kobo, not a computer. I use Pocket because it shoots articles on the web to my Kobo because eink is better on the eyes than even really good true tone dark mode. Besides, the real dark mode is the friends we made along the way.

I woke up at 8:08 am. I took the TTC.

I watched Replacing My iPhone With An Apple Watch. This is something I’ve thought about a lot, but I’m waiting for a version of the watch that’s actually built to replace my phone, as opposed to a proof of concept with lots of caveats. I recommend you read 20 Years of Blogging: What I’ve Learned. I read Fire Emblem: Three Houses: The Kotaku Review.

Grabbed coffee with Romy. She just moved close to where I work, so it’s easier to hang out.

I recommend you read Use a Reverse To-Do List to Record Everything You’ve Done. This logbook is my attempt to do exactly this, largely by automating things I do on my phone and computers.

Tried watching some recommended anime. Blue Exorcist (bad), and Fairy Tail (worse).

I added Study Girl’s Mug to my pinterest wishlist.

I did a bunz trade on the way to work. Took the subway. Was going to bike but it was going to feel like 45 today.

I finished Pleasure Activist and thought it was okay, but clearly a collection of blog posts instead of, say, a book. The ideas are wonderful but scattershot. As a guy who published a couple of blog-post-books, I will say being on the reading end of it just never feels right.

Keeping a Logbook

Here’s an old link. On Keeping a Logbook by Austin Kleon:

But more importantly, keeping a simple list of who/what/where means I write down events that seem mundane at the time, but later on help paint a better portrait of the day, or even become more significant over time. By sticking to the facts” I don’t pre-judge what was important or what wasn’t, I just write it down.

I do this in a few places. I write in a bullet journal every day. I knock tasks off with Things 3. I collect links for this blog. But there’s nowhere where all of these things get collected.

I’m building a machine.

in iOS13, there’s a greatly expanded set of automations in the shortcuts app. It may enable me to make a logbook of all the things I do on my phone. And since my phone is my primary computer, it’ll go a long way to automatically log my day. Here’s some of the things I’m trying to build:

Apps I’ll be using

These posts will be called Logbook [date]”. I don’t know if these are things I’ll actually publish openly or not. Maybe the first few. We’ll see how it goes.
